Health Issues, REVERSED!!

**In this post I share about my health experiences, I am not a doctor and in no way claim to know about your health. I am strictly sharing about my journey and what I chose to do. You have to make your own choices and consult with your doctor if needed.**

I spoke about how my skin issues reversed, now I want to share about the issues I had that were internal. I had developed hypothyroidism while I was obese. My doctor wanted me to start medication, but I really didn't want to be on medication for the rest of my life (as my doctor told me I'd have to be). This was in the middle of my journey, before I had fully started to eat healthy food. But I knew by then that I shouldn't have to be on medication forever. I knew my body could heal itself. After watching 'The Gerson Miracle', I was even more convinced. I consulted with another medical professional who I thought was into natural healing, but she also told me that food would not cure this. I knew in my gut that I had to try. But it would take me a couple of months to fully dive into the Eat to Live lifestyle.

My blood pressure had always been in the normal range, but as I teetered toward the 246 pound range on my 5'4" frame, my blood pressure showed the stress on my body. The bottom number would delve into the 90's.

We all hear that belly fat is not good. At my heaviest, my waist was 42". My husband retired from his job and we needed health care coverage, so we went to Medi-Share. The other standard health insurances wouldn't even talk to us, because of my obesity. I was devastated to think that my family's health coverage depended on my losing weight, I didn't want to lose weight and felt completely overwhelmed at the task. But Medi-share has a program that they let me join. I had to consult with a health coach about twice a month on the phone and work on getting healthy. I had bloodwork done at the beginning (May 2013) which showed elevated blood sugar, my thyroid condition and high cholesterol. So I had the documentation in hand to reveal a year later how much healthier I would be. I lost about 30 pounds in about 4 months (from April-July 2013) eating whole foods, but still sugar and not enough fruits and veggies. Then I stalled and didn't lose anymore. I was frustrated because I was jogging and eating right (so I thought), but the scale stayed the same. My health coach was great, so encouraging. I was making great strides in how I thought about myself, so the stall on the scale was not a failure, I learned how to love myself and found a deeper relationship with God, knowing this is the journey He had for me. I started to listen to Dr. Fuhrman's podcasts on my jogs and it really resonated.

PMS and Post-MS was a big issue for me. My family suffered for about 2 weeks a month with my dark mood and mood swings. I'd get obsessive right before my period and just crabby! After about 2 months eating to live, my symptoms almost disappeared and they got better every month as I went along. My husband now says that he can't tell when I'm on my period, except that the goodies show up in the bathroom. I've suffered since I was about 16 with severe PMS, now it is gone! Tell me that what we eat doesn't have a major something to do about that!!

During Christmas time, my husband makes the yummiest sweets and I was partaking. Not as much as years past, but enough to feel pretty yucky when Christmas day came around. I think that is what pushed me to dive head first into the Eat to Live lifestyle the day after Christmas. And that's what I did!

This post is about my health issues reversed, so here's the good news to this long story. The first 2 weeks eating to live I lost at least a pound A DAY! And continued to lose at a steady rate. I lost  20 pounds in the agressive 6-week plan. And continued to lose. But put the weight aside, after 2 months I had my blood work done again and had lost 28 pounds on Eat to Live. The results were amazing! I had lowered my cholesterol to the normal range at total cholesterol of 108. My thyroid was normal and my blood sugar fell back to the normal range. I was stunned. In 2 months eating extremely healthy food, my body had repaired itself and continued to do so. As far as my waist is concerned, in 3-1/2 months I had shrunk to 36" and now after 7 months I'm at 32"  and I'm still losing! I graduated from needing my health coach on Medi-share and am now down 63 pounds on Eat to Live in 7 months.

I don't have the afternoon slump, I have constant energy all day long. My sleep is great and I don't need as much. I wake up with energy and have a constant good mood. I just feel healthy! Our bodies are healing machines :)
